U.S. HIKES SANCTIONS ON HAITI.(MAIN)

WASHINGTON The Clinton administration Wednesday further tightened its economic sanctions against Haiti, imposing an expanded freeze on the U.S. assets of all Haitian citizens living in the Caribbean island country.

The tightening is the sixth step since October to pressure the military leadership of Haiti to abandon control and give way to a return to power of exiled President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.
